Richard Veras Friday, April 7, 2006 at 8:00pm Sacred Heart & St. Stephen Church Summit Street, corner of Hicks Street - Brooklyn READ ABOUT THE PLAY Maurice and Therese: Story of a Love is based on the book by Bishop Patrick Ahern which contains the letters between a struggling seminarian and St. Therese of Lisieux. Therese’s "little way" is made palpable in this very human relationship in which two young people consecrated to God discover and embrace Christ’s saving presence within their friendship. These actual letters proclaim to us that human desires, affections and even weaknesses are not obstacles, but rather stepping stones in following Jesus Christ. The relationship between Maurice and Therese bears witness to "the intrinsic link between the Love of God and the reality of human love" which Pope Benedict XVI has emphasized and clarified in his Encyclical Deus Caritas Est. |
